Sesi Technologies
Sesi Technologies develops and provides effective technology-enabled solutions to help African grain farmers reduce losses, increase productivity and maximise their income.
Smallholder farmers in Ghana lose up to 30% of their grain harvest to post-harvest losses annually due to several factors with poor storage facilities, limited access to post-harvest services and limited market access, being the main contributors.
Lack of proper storage systems leads to crop loss due to high moisture and pest infestation. Limited access to mechanised post-harvest services forces farmers to harvest, dry and thresh manually which increases losses. Lack of market access leaves farmers to maximise revenue from their produce leading to a loss of income.
Sesi Technologies is comprehensively addressing these challenges by developing essential postharvest technologies, services and a market access platform to help farmers reduce losses, increase productivity and maximise their income.
We develop a grain moisture metre and a hermetic storage technology which effectively eliminates storage-related losses. We also provide mechanised post-harvest services including threshing, drying and harvesting services to eliminate drudgery and improve productivity.
Finally, we provide a market access platform, AgroMarket, where we connect the smallholder farmers we work with to food vendors to enable farmers to sell their produce at fair market prices. Currently, we work with more than 2000 farmers and agribusinesses as well as 200 food vendors.
Our unique advantage lies in being the one-stop-shop for the farmers’ post-harvest management needs – providing a bundle of solutions that address all critical post-harvest challenges for them – while implementing customer-friendly payment mechanisms which allow farmers to access our solutions without the need for upfront payment.
Sesi Technologies' solutions are directly enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Ghana by enabling them to increase both their income and their standards of living.
