About the Africa Prize

Launched in 2014 by the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation awards crucial commercialisation support to ambitious African innovators developing scalable engineering solutions to local challenges, demonstrating the importance of engineering as an enabler of improved quality of life and economic development.

The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation is Africa’s biggest prize dedicated to developing African innovators and assisting them to maximise their impact.

The 2023 Shortlist

The innovations shortlisted in 2023 tackle challenges central to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including clean water and sanitation, sustainable cities and communities, clean energy, good health and wellbeing, and quality education.
